Upon graduating from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, Monte began a career in commercial construction for a modular building systems company in St. Louis, MO, eventually becoming a Regional Sales Manager for them. This experience allowed him the opportunity to execute large scale projects for many major companies, domestic and international, including Intel, BMW and NASA.
Monte’s first experience as a general contractor for a new home build, was in 2003 when he built his own home in Kirkwood just blocks from the downtown district. Monte found the process of working with city building codes, coordinating subcontractors and budgeting the process, not too difficult, given his many years as a commercial construction project manager and sales manager, as well as his love for architecture and design of all forms.
A couple of years later, Monte was presented with the prospect to general contract a new build home for a friend, and he jumped at the opportunity. Through the experience, he realized he built many strong working relationships with several subcontractors who respected his use of quality materials, his expectations of meticulous craftsmanship, and his integrity to not cut corners.
This led Monte to have a vision of building homes for Kirkwood and its surrounding townships that will one day become century old homes and perhaps beyond. He has a strength in relationship building with not only those he works with internally at his company, but particularly with his clients. He is continuously seeking out ways to incorporate the newest design features available, with an emphasis on not only form, but function. Creating function that is beautiful, comfortable, and as unique as possible is the end goal for each of his projects.
